Excellence in Diversity Awards

20th Anniversary Celebration

Since 1990, Michigan State University has celebrated diversity and inclusion by sponsoring the Excellence in Diversity Recognition and Awards Program (EIDA). The EIDA recognizes efforts of MSU’s outstanding faculty, staff and students who are actively engaged in and committed to the principles of diversity and inclusion at MSU. There are two program components in which the campus community can participate:

EIDA Nomination Form

Our newest EIDA nomination category is, “Excellence in Advancing Global Competency”. The nominees in this category must demonstrate outstanding commitment to the value of internationalizing the student experience through the integration of “global competency” into their work. Individuals, teams, units and registered student organizations are eligible. A cash award of $2,500 will be issued to a single winner in this category along with certificates.

For the other categories, up to three (3) $2,500 cash awards are available to individuals; up to three (3) $2,500 cash awards are available to teams, and up to three (3) recognition plaques are available to deserving individuals, teams, units and organizations. Special recognition and crystal awards are given to winning nominees in the “Lifetime Achievement” category.

Student Expressions Application

Students at MSU are some of the most talented in the country and those that value cultural diversity and inclusion are invited to demonstrate their talent by participating in the newly expanded “Diversity and Inclusion: Student Expressions” program (formerly known as “Students Making A Difference through Artistic Expressions”). Expanded to include science and technology, eligible students are encouraged to be innovative, inventive, and artistic when expressing what diversity means to them. Up to three (3) $500 cash awards are available to winners. Students receiving honorable mention will receive certificates of recognition.
