CALL TO ENGAGE

With so many issues taking place in the world today, what better time than now for MSU students to come together to make their voices heard and their ideas known! Demonstrate that student activism is not a phenomenon of the past. Don’t be a passive observer, take advantage of the opportunity to speak out about issues important to us all at the Martin Luther King, Jr. Student Leadership Conference!

Individuals and organizations are invited to be a part of the 6th annual conference by getting involved in any / all of the following three ways:

  • Host a Workshop (The proposal deadline is Monday, November 30, 2009): Individuals and organizations are encouraged to propose leading a workshop session that will empower high school and college students to be leaders and agents of change for inclusion and diversity in their communities! Past sessions have focused on social and economic justice, nonviolence, civil rights, equity for all, service, and collective responsibility.
  • Create a Video (The submission deadline is Friday, January 01, 2010): You are invited to create a short (maximum 1 minute) video on the theme for this year’s MLK Celebration, “The Message: Our History, Our Future”. What does this message mean to you? How do you want the future of The Message to play out at MSU and in the world? (Winning videos will be played at the conference and grant funds will be awarded as grand prizes!)
  • Resource Fair Table (The reservation deadline is on Monday, November 30, 2009): Your organization is invited to host a table during the resource fair. This fair is a great opportunity to outreach to current and future student leaders.
