Data and Information: DEI at MSU

Annual Diversity, Equity and Inclusion Report

Each year, Michigan State University compiles a report to capture diversity, equity and inclusion at the institution.

The annual Diversity, Equity and Inclusion Report provides an overview of the compositional diversity of MSU students, staff and faculty. In addition, the report tracks efforts to advance institutional diversity, equity and inclusion strategic priorities. In alignment with the DEI Steering Committee Report and Plan, the report summaries are organized into four areas, including increasing diversity, ensuring equity, promoting inclusion and enhancing outreach and engagement.

The data section is organized by race/ethnicity, gender, and disability status among student and employee populations. In addition, data related to MSU’s supplier diversity annual spending are provided. The report's narrative section incorporates a broader scope of MSU's efforts to support the recruitment, retention, advancement, and success of members of underrepresented groups.

Campus Climate

A campus climate that is positive and provides holistic support inside and outside of the classroom is of utmost importance for MSU, and requires intentional recruitment, retention and advancement efforts for historically underrepresented students and employees.

The last campus climate survey occured in 2016. While the assessment provides an in-depth purview of the past experiences of students and employees, MSU will work towards implementing ongoing surveys to regularly evaluate the efficacy of campus-wide diversity, equity and inclusion efforts.
