Vision
Exemplifying the Michigan State University values of quality, connectivity, and inclusiveness, the Office for Inclusion and Intercultural Initiatives fosters respectful intercultural education and collaborations to achieve success for all. These initiatives function within and beyond the MSU Community. Consistent with the University's mission, these efforts anticipate and address the challenges of the 21st century, contributing to a better and more inclusive MSU, state, nation, and world.
Mission
The Office for Inclusion and Intercultural Initiatives serves as an executive level focal point for the promotion of inclusion across the university. The office strengthens and creates a supportive University environment for MSU students, staff, and faculty that fosters full participation and cultivates excellence through inclusion, diversity, institutional equity, and intercultural understanding. The office monitors the University's compliance with state and federal laws and encourages best practices available to promote a culture of inclusion. The Office provides leadership for, and the support of, university-wide initiatives on inclusive excellence. The coordination of these endeavors leads to greater coherence and connectivity of inclusiveness at Michigan State University and beyond.
Approach
This office facilitates collaboration across MSU units to enhance and promote equity, respect, civility, and accountability on our diverse campus. We encourage MSU units to share information and successful efforts that realize the University's mission and vision. This is accomplished through programming, educational/development opportunities, support for other campus inclusion/diversity resources, community building, ensuring institutional equity, and the cultivation of research and assessment regarding inclusion. Through these initiatives this office leverages change to build a more inclusive and supportive campus community which values our diverse cultures.
